Washington, DC – August 20, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today congratulated Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC), a community development non-profit corporation with offices throughout the state, on its new $400,919 grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program to provide technical assistance in the construction of 30 homes in Santa Cruz County. Rural Development also awarded CPLC a $17,500 grant to supply much-needed kitchen and playground equipment for a Head Start program in Somerton.
“Chicanos Por La Causa continues to offer a crucial service to the people of Arizona, and I praise their persistent commitment,” said Rep. Grijalva of the announcement. “In addition to giving families a new place to call home, the construction of these houses will benefit the local economy and provide much-needed jobs to area workers.”
Of the other grant, Grijalva noted that the Somerton Head Start program “was in great need of basic kitchen and playground equipment to better serve the children involved, and this grant will go a long way toward addressing that need.”
CPLC works to promote the well-being of socially and economically deprived citizens both in Arizona and across the nation. The group focuses on education, housing, economic development and social services. Combined with its subsidiaries, the group has been awarded millions of dollars to improve the health of Arizona communities and the lives of state residents.
