Construction to partially close Gilbert Road intersection

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 1, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The intersection of Gilbert Road and Hunt Highway in southeast Chandler will be partially closed Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2 in conjunction with an on-going road widening project.

Approximately 10,000 vehicles pass through the intersection on a typical weekday, some of them commuting to Chandler and Gilbert from the Coolidge and Florence areas using Gilbert Road’s connection to State Route 87.

The partial closure will begin at 6 a.m. June 1 and conclude by 6 p.m. June 2. The work will consist of the removal and replacement of the existing asphalt and sub-grade.

Northbound traffic on Gilbert Road will be detoured east to Lindsay Road at Hunt Highway. Southbound traffic on Gilbert will be detoured east and west at Riggs Road, with local traffic allowed to continue south to Peach Tree Drive.

Eastbound traffic on Hunt Highway will be prohibited from turning north onto Gilbert and westbound traffic on Hunt will be detoured north at Lindsay Road, with local traffic allowed to continue west to Santa Rita Way.

Law enforcement officers will be on-site to assist in managing traffic near the construction activity.
