CITY SELECTS TUCSON WATER DIRECTOR

Washington, D.C. – January 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Following a national recruitment and competitive selection process, City Manager Michael Ortega has selected Timothy M. Thomure to be the Director of the City of Tucson’s Water Department, effective February 15, 2016. Mr. Thomure is a water professional with 21 years of work experience in the public sector, private industry, and consulting. Mr. Thomure comes to the City from HDR Engineering, Inc. where he has been employed since 2007 as an Area Water Operations Manager and Water Reuse Practice Lead. He holds a master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Arizona and is a registered Professional Engineer in Arizona.

Mr. Thomure has a history of continuous career growth in terms of project management and supervisory skills, as well as academic and professional credentials. He has a significant professional network and reputation as a technical expert and researcher making conference presentations and publishing papers. He also worked at the City of Tucson from 1999 to 2007 in the Transportation and Water departments. During his previous tenure at Tucson Water, he played a key role in the Clearwater Program and the planning, design and construction of the Central Arizona Project recharge and recovery infrastructure. Mr. Thomure’s knowledge of water policy issues, the local community as well as Tucson Water will ensure that customers are provided with water in an innovative, cost-effective and sustainable manner.
