Statement in support of protecting Post-9/11 GI Bill from cuts

Washington, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., gave the following statement in support of protecting the Post-9/11 GI Bill from cuts under consideration in Congress. The Post-9/11 GI Bill provides veterans with important resources such as housing benefits that can transfer to their dependents.

“We cannot sit by and allow Congress to cut the Post-9/11 GI Bill. This would open the door to a dangerous precedent – one that says it’s OK to break our promises to the men and women who serve our country. I spend a lot of time with veterans in rural and tribal communities across Arizona, and I’m always amazed by their spirit of service and sacrifice. They have earned the Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits – these must not be used as a piggy bank for other programs. We count on our troops to do a difficult, perilous job, and they count on us to ensure they and their families have the resources they need. I call on my colleagues to honor the promises our nation has made to our brave service members.”
