Grijalva Praises New Round of Hardest Hit Fund Money for Arizona Homeowners

-

Washington, DC – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) today praised the U.S. Department of Treasury’s announcement of the fifth round of funding for their Hardest Hit Fund (HHF), which includes $28,282,519 for the State of Arizona. The program funds target foreclosure prevention efforts run by state housing finance agencies in states hit hardest by the economic and housing market downturn. Grijalva, who helped lead efforts in 2012 and 2013 to increase HHF participation and improve distribution of resources, released the following statement:

“The remainder of underwater homes in America are disproportionately located in low income and minority communities, including many in my district,” Rep. Grijalva said. “This new round of vital HHF funding will help Arizonans who have not equally benefited from improvements in the overall housing market. A family struggling to avoid foreclosure is fighting for more than a house – they are fighting to save their home. They’re fighting to protect the memories they’ve made and the safety they feel there. And thanks to HHF, they do not need to fight alone. I’m glad that Arizonans will have this crucial support, and commend the Department of Treasury for committing what amounts to more than a quarter billion dollars to our state for this worthy cause.”
