Sinema Votes to Improve Housing Assistance Programs for Arizona Families

Washington, D.C. – February 3, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema voted with a bipartisan majority to pass the Housing Opportunity through Modernization Act (H.R. 3700) to improve programs helping low and moderate income home buyers and renters.

“Arizonans work hard every day to pay rent, put food on the table, and build futures for their families,” said Congresswoman Sinema. ”Outdated and inefficient government programs shouldn’t stand in the way of the American Dream. This legislation makes reasonable, commonsense changes to ensure housing assistance programs are effective and efficient.”

“Homelessness is increasing across the country and addressing the problem is the right thing to do,” said Linda Elliott, one n ten Executive Director. “Our Promise of a New Day supportive housing program currently houses 40 formerly homeless youth, and is partially funded with HUD vouchers through the City of Phoenix. This legislation makes several important changes to the operation of housing assistance programs, such as improving the project-basing of vouchers to increase housing options while ensuring choice.”
