Grijalva Congratulates City of Tucson on Large Grant Award to Address Lead Paint

-

TUCSON – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) today congratulated the City of Tucson for receiving a combined total on nearly $3 million from a Lead Based Paint Hazard Control grant award and Healthy Homes Supplemental funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Rep. Grijalva, who led the Arizona Congressional Delegation’s Democratic members in writing HUD Secretary Julian Castro on behalf of the City’s grant application, released the following statement:

“I am thrilled to see the City of Tucson receive this significant award to help our city address lead hazards in low-income housing,” Rep. Grijalva said. “Tucson has a well-documented and disproportionate burden in eliminating the threat of childhood lead poisoning. The funds HUD awarded this week will ensure that hazard is neutralized in at least 180 housing units for some of the most vulnerable children in our community. I cannot think of a more worthy cause for these well-deserved funds.”
